- By A.J. Ryder on November 5, 2014 18:02 GMTA quadrant of horses including Taquin Du Seuil, Ballynagour, Champagne Fever and Uxizandre are all trading at 12/1 but we’re looking towards one of the most reliable each-way contenders in National Hunt racing to make an impression here as Double Ross trades at an impressive 16/1 for Paddy Power Gold Cup Chase glory.

While he may not actually win the race, he always gives punters value for money and he looks to be one of those horses who simply know how to gut out a win. He is up closer to the top of the weights and hasn’t had much luck in his previous two efforts this season - being brought down at Newton Abbot and then finishing third from seven to Monorah. He was just outside of the each-way realm that race, which would have been a disappointment since he was a solid 11/1 and would have paid solidly each-way.
He’ll be a good wager to turn it around here and though he might not win he looks a tidy selection to place.
Other notables include Hunt Ball and Menorah at 20/1. Hunt Ball had a very unsuccessful sojourn in the United States where had plenty of folks rooting for him and expecting him to make a big impression in some of the high-priced American steeplechase contests but he was undone by the fact that many of those races - at Saratoga in particular - simply aren’t proper chases. They tend to just be horses running over a flat turf course jumping over obstacles.
Now that he is back on British shores, you can expect him to make a bigger impression and it remains to be seen just how much that American stint will have affected him and his overall confidence.
Menorah has always been a rather talented contender and he was able to get things off to a great start this season by winning his first race of the year. Expect him to be a factor at Cheltenham - that’s a place where he knows a thing or two about winning.
