The race assembles a very interesting field with the Dubai World Cup winner Monterosso set for a run here alongside one of last year's breakout three-year-old's in Nathaniel. Another one is the globetrotting son of Scot Daddy – the illustrious Daddy Long Legs who will be looking to build on his UAE Derby win. Subsequently pulled up in the Kentucky Derby, he was in the mix towards the finish in the Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh.
Veteran Juddmonte contender Twice Over, a Dubai World Cup winner and tough competitor in races all over the globe steps into this one as well and, though he listed at a lengthy 25/1, he could roll back the years and prove a real shock. He likes Sandown and actually won the 2010 Coral Eclipse over Sri Putra, though it was only against a five horse field.
Twice Over, notably, finished seventh in 2009 when Sea The Stars romped home to win the Coral Eclipse.
Alongside Monterosso, Godolphin boast a trio of entries with City Style and the more-fancied Farhh trading at competitive prices for this one. Farhh finished third behind odds-on favourite So You Think in the Group 1 Prince of Wales' Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Which bring us to the real elephant in the room for this one – So You Think. He is in cracking form and really looked to have stepped it up a gear in his last effort when he demonstrated plenty of veracity and panache to capture the 1m2f contest at Ascot. More than a few talented contenders ran in this one but you do have to admit that the Coral Eclipse is definitely a tougher race on paper. Farhh is only two races into his season and looks very likely to improve here so that may complicate things.
Punters seem to think that Farhh will certainly test So You Think and they're backing him all the way down to 4/1.
