Breeders’ Cup Distaff Betting Preview PT 2
- By A.J. Ryder on October 29, 2014 05:56 GMTClose Hatches has emerged as the 4/1 second choice after being considered a co-favourite with Beholder throughout much of the ante post market of 2014 for this race. She has established herself as a filly that can take on virtually anybody, anywhere and some of her lopsided victories have been absolutely nothing short of breathtaking.

Plenty of punters simply wrote off her poor effort last time as a much overdue loss and the Juddmonte-owned distaffer will boast a much larger price this time around.
Look out for Close Hatches to race prominently but off the lead and offer up another signature flourish as they head towards the far turn. Expect her to likely make a move to the inside based on her draw and preferred running style. She has a chance to be lower on the American tote board than the 4/1 she is currently priced at with most major European bookmaking firms right now.
Tiz Midnight has been flying under the radar with the withdrawal of Beholder and the relative hype surrounding the other two major favourites. A lot of punters will likely be including her underneath in their exotics but expect her to go off at a higher price on the American tote board than you will currently find her at with the 6/1 price tag in Europe.
Belle Gallantly is another interesting contender here but really hasn’t shown the past ability that we’ve seen from the likes of Untapable and Close Hatches. She trades alongside her counterpart Don’t Tell Sophia with a 7/1 price tag with European books and there will be more than a few who include these as part of their trifecta and superfecta selections.
The field is rounded out by the impressive Iotapa who is a 10/1 shout but looks a bit out of her depth here along with 12/1 L’Amour De Ma Vie and the 16/1 Unbridled Forever.
