Cheltenham Bankers Pt 3
- By A.J. Ryder on February 18, 2014 00:30 GMTRegardless, Big Buck’s should win if he can run back to anything resembling his past form - particularly if Annie Power opts for the better choice in the Mares Hurdle. Expect that price to plummet quite quickly on any news of that happening. In fact, the price will probably drop before its announced as insiders will be lumping on Big Buck’s.

The last big banker of the Cheltenham Festival this year looks to be last year’s Champion Bobs Worth, who is now priced as low as 7/4 with many major bookmakers. He comes in off a bit of a vindication in his second start of the season. His first attempt back in the Betfair Chase saw him finish a full forty lengths behind Cue Card finishing sixth from a field of eight. He was the 15/8 favourite at the time and, that being his first start since Cheltenham the previous season, many started to wonder if that was just a fluke or not.
It all came back to the fore when he beat out First Lieutenant by a length and a half at Leopardstown in the Grade 1 Lexus Chase. He delivered on the day for punters and was able to topple a few quality runners including Sir Des Champs (who went off joint favourite at 11/4) and Unioniste who lined up for Paul Nicholls.
Silviniaco Conti looms as the biggest challenger to Bobs Worth’s claims for the Cheltenham Gold cup and he’s trading at around 7/2 to get the better of him. Look out for Cue Card at 6/1 while Last Instalment is looking popular at around 8/1.
A three-way accumulator of the top three favourites at the Cheltenham Festival pays out at a mere 9.2.
