This event looks to be one of the most competitive in years with several fascinating plotlines developing in a number of key races but there’s also more than a few interesting betting opportunities in some of the lower profile contests as well so keeping your eye out for sharp each-way selections looks to be the order of the day throughout the entirety of the Cheltenham Festival.
The Supreme Novices’ Hurdle kicks things off and My Tent Or Yours looks to be the key selection for many in this one and he comes into the race with piles of momentum. Look for him to kick on nicely if he gets the race set up for him, but sometimes many of the runners in the Supreme Novices’ just aren’t seasoned enough and this race is overbet nearly every year. Whether that’s because it’s the opening contest and so many punters have had money squirreled away all year for this one, or because the latest hot novice hurdler is usually on everybody’s lips anyway by this time in the season.
As it currently stands, My Tent Or Yours is trading at 15/8 while Jezki can be backed at a 9/2 price - that’s out from the 4/1 he’d been trading at for quite some time. Champagne Fever is down to 6/1 alongside Un Atout.
Un Atout looks to be a fascinating horse and is undefeated in three starts in Ireland for Willy Mullins yard. One has to like the manner of that last victory - winning by nearly 20 lengths. But this will be the first step against Graded company and it is a considerable step up. However, hype horses don’t always win this race so backing the promising improver just might be the right play at 6/1.
