He also boasts an entry to the Arkle but he is rated more likely to win here and his price hasn’t really fluctuated too much. He has a chance to win both, but his 9/2 has held steady for quite some time and it should hold as we get closer to the race.

Aupcharlie is an Irish contender who looks more than solid despite having finished second in his last two efforts. Neither of the losses was by a significant margin but he really is yet to show his true ability over fences. He is relatively lightly raced but has shown that he deserves to be punching it out at this level of jumping thanks to those place finishes.
His price has been taken into 5/1 from a 10/1 listing a few weeks back. He also carries entries for the RSA and the Arkle, but looks likely to opt for the run in this race.
Boston Bob has a very respectable record and is a Grade 1 winner at Leopardstown this year. He is an undefeated chaser an has been sent off as the betting favourite in nearly every single race he’s run except for his first and second, which were a point to point and a National Hunt Flat Race. He always takes money but is taking a big step up here.
He ran a notable second in last year’s Albert Bartlett’s when he was sent off as the 6/5 favourite in a field of 20. Beaten two lengths by Brindisi Breeze he is definitely in with a shout here despite the step up.
Another interesting contender with a significant price drop recently is Modile, who was last seen finishing 12 lengths ahead of a novice chase at Leicester. His first effort this year was a falling one but he has taken two scores since then. Relatively lightly-raced since shifting over from Auteil in 2011, he looks like he will kick on ant least make an impression here in what will definitely be his largest test. He’s gone from 20/1 to 10/1 in a short period of time.
