Cheltenham Preview Supreme Novices Pt 1
- By A.J. Ryder on January 27, 2014 01:16 GMTCheltenham is now just a few weeks away and the majority of quality contenders have already had their final run before festival time. The ante post markets are really starting to heat up as the final declarations are drawing closer by the day. The Supreme Novices’ Hurdle is one of the most widely-anticipated contests in that it usually boasts the big jumpers of tomorrow along with the advantage of being, arguably, the most over-bet race of the entire festival.

Since so many punters are just raring to go by the time the first race actually comes down there are a lot of people using this race to kick off accumulators or simply covering too many selections.
There is a lot of money to be won by getting things right in the Supreme Novices Hurdle at Cheltenham.
As it currently stands, this looks to be one of the most wide-open Supreme Novice Hurdles in recent memory. The betting choice right now is trading at a competitive 9.0 and it’s looking likely that Vautour will be able to hold onto his position as the de facto betting favourite.
Trained by Willy Mullins and having just captured the Moscow Flyer Novices’ Hurdle at Punchestown two weeks back, you could get the feeling that he probably should have won by more in that contest when you look at the fact that he was sent off at a slim 1/4. He beat out Western Boy by 3/4’s of a length but was briefly headed on the run-in, though was able to battle back gallantly. It was a real test and it could get tougher when he faces off against the best that this generation of hurdlers has to offer.
Vautour, took three tries to break his maiden on the NH circuit, is available at a lowest price 7/1 with several bookmakers.
