Cheltenham Saturday Betting Preview Pt 1

We are finally back in form with top-class jumps racing action as Cheltenham runs their second meet of the 2013/14 National Hunt season to coincide with the de facto finale of flat racing at Ascot. Both tracks offer up plenty of excitement and value on the day and you really do have to respect the fact that so many quality jumpers are getting back into action on Saturday.

Many of these races will set the early tone of the season and a number of recognizable National Hunt stars are absent here. We will have to make due with a number of contenders who are looking to play their way into the equation for races later on in the season.

While there is no graded action happening at Cheltenham, there is plenty of interesting prep races that will unfold and showcase the likes of a few contenders seeking to move forward with things.

The opening contest is a 3m1f effort for novice hurdlers and it looks like a good opportunity for Oscar Magic to make an impression here and follow up on that impressive score that he flashed in his seasonal debut at Newton Abbot a few weeks back. While it was a lower-level novice hurdle for certain, the manner in which he won - combined with the miniscule 1/10 price that he was sent off at - shows you everything you need to know about the type of esteem the Nigel Twiston-Davies runner is held within.

He boasts a quality record and is seldom, if ever, outside of the equation. Look for him to kick on nicely in a field that looks a tad limited. You also reckon that he will relish the going at Cheltenham tomorrow.
