Cheltenham Saturday Betting Preview Pt 2
- By A.J. Ryder on October 18, 2013 20:04 GMTThe second contest is a 2m4f handicap chase that has plenty of possible contenders in the mix with Woolcombe Folly sitting at the top end of the handicap despite only really hitting the board in recent contests. The ones to watch here look to be the talented Astracad - a jumper from the Twiston-Davies yard that has always flashed a lot of quality but seldom seems to be placed in the right spot.

While this contest is one of the top races of the day, Astracad belongs in this one and gets a good break from the handicappers here as well. He was a beaten favourite last time out and has won at Cheltenham before but not at a 2m4f distance.
The other contender to watch here is Rob Conti who is down towards the bottom of the weights and has finished second in each of his last four races. He looks like he is getting better with every run and seems to be taking some money for this as punters seem confident that he is well-poised for a breakthrough run.
The third race of the day is the Masterson Holdings Hurdle which goes 2m110y and contains a field of only six jumpers. Paul Nicholls has entered Sametegal, a contender that he has been very vocal about in the past few months and that seems to have scored off a good portion of the talented novice hurdle contenders.
The other one to watch here is Bayan who is by Danehill Dancer out of a Dr Fong mare. He has rattled off three scores on the bounce and has been campaigned throughout the summer and appears to be in cracking form. While Nicholls always has his contenders sharp, you do have to wonder how they are going to navigate the tricky course at Cheltenham on their seasonal debut when coming up against runners that have already won a few times this season.
Bajan is not getting a lot of play from the punters and appears to trade around 10/3 with most major bookmakers.
