Cue Card and Silviniaco Conti Clipped for King George Part 2

Finian's Rainbow scored a massive double to end the 2012 campaign when he bested champion Sizing Europe and then scored in the Melling Chase a month later over another talented assortment of specialists while achieving a notable 173 OR. Expect him to deploy his usual tracking trip before either kicking on late or quickening up the pace if he senses weakness in the frontrunners. His recent run of races stretches all the way back to November 10 and he's won 7 of 9 races with the two losses being second place finishes.

Finian's Rainbow trades in the 7/1 or 8/1 corridor.

Silviniaco Conti got a nice result a few days back and this saw him trimmed for the King George by several bookmakers with Paddy Power being one taking him into 5s while others have preferred to keep him higher – William Hill floats him at 8/1. Sent off at 11/10 with Ruby in the irons, the six-year-old bested a field of six by eleven smashing lengths – showing that he hasn't lost a step since powering home in the Mildmay Novices at Aintree to close out his campaign from last season.

He looks competitive and may have another race prior to Christmas time.

Riverside Theatre was pulled up at Aintree but put in a sensational performance to out-duel Alberta's run in the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham earlier this year. The lightly-raced eight-year-old comes out of the Nicky Henderson yard and it will be interesting to see how his fitness is during the build-up to this race. He has spent a lot of time on the sidelines but is supposedly being brought back into the action at a relatively reasonable time of year.

He may be a bit underpriced at 7/1 but several bookmakers have him at 9s.

Cue Card put in an absolutely sensational performance in his seasonal debut at Exeter with a massive 26 length romp over a slim field of five in a Grade 2 Limited Handicap. Most will remember Sprinter Sacre's excellent run at Cheltenham last year but it was Cue Card who chased him home – beaten by seven lengths in one of the most impressive runs many of us have seen.

He will likely start pointing towards higher quality races against better runners in his next outing, but it is definitely important to note that he severely outran his odds at Exeter – he was sent off at 5/6, which is plenty of value for a gelding winning by almost thirty lengths against Grade 2 company.

The six-year-old son of King's Theatre is likely to improve over the rest of the year and should be expected to have plenty of Cheltenham credentials when he shows back up in March.

Punters can find Cue Card as high as 10/1 for the King George.
