Doncaster Lincoln Day Betting Preview Part Two

We have a tricky distance for this 1m2f60y dash in maiden company. Ryan Moore has opted for the promising-looking Sud Pacifique (Montjeu) who lines up for Sir Robert Ogden. He’s been sent off as a favourite in both races and has only managed second-place finishes on both occasions. It looks like connections are still trying to figure this one out but the lack of genuine competition here makes him a de facto standout. Cobbs Quay (Danehill Dancer) will be looking to improve after a freshening and is certainly not out of the mix. The real variable looks to be a three year-old filly named Nabah (Motivator) who is taking a sharp drop in class from listed company. She hasn’t won yet, but will enjoy four lbs and her RPR is a hefty 111.

Another interesting field is set to contest this one and we’ve got some winning contenders taking a step up here in this Div I contest. Loyalty (Medicean) just scored in a Wolverhampton Handicap and his connections ship him to Doncaster in an attempt to try his luck. His form is decent but this is a real step up for him so it will be interesting to see whether he gets held up at the start again. Ocean Transit (Trans Island) ran in the David Nicholson Mares Hurdle at Cheltenham and acquitted herself well to finish third to the talented Quevega when sent off at 50/1. She’s never won at Doncaster and looks a lot sharper over obstacles than she does on the flat – interesting outside selection though.

Thunderstruck (Bertolini) could be set to progress for David Nicholls in this one as there aren’t many coming into the race with a great deal of form. The six year-old bay gelding was just headed last time out at Wolverhampton and has actually been relatively heavily campaigned since kicking things off in late December – he’s run seven times already. Hydrant (Haafhd) also ran second in his seasonal debut at Wolverhampton and has shown improvement on the second run since the lay-off in the past. Abergaveny (Dubai Destination) looks sharp but it could all be whether he is in quality form or not.

The nightcap race features a tough field of 20 and Sharp Sovereign (Cactus Ridge) looks to be the selection as he enters off a six month lay-off after a season where he never finished outside the top 3. Wins at Pontefract, Yarmouth and a pair at Hamilton show the credible claims of a heavily-raced five year-old who certainly knows how to find the line. With some indifferent contenders here, he could be the choice. Sail Home (Mizzen Mast) looks a logical choice as he’s been quite sharp on the Southwell scene this seasonl. The Juddmonte-bred has only been raced six times but is so far winless over turf.
