Dubai World Cup Day Betting Preview Pt 2
- By A.J. Ryder on March 26, 2014 20:26 GMTThe UAE Derby is restricted to 3yo’s and Southern Hemisphere 4yo’s going 1m1f and a bit on the Tapeta surface. Toast Of New York has been getting a lot of press recently but this is a very difficult race - made more so by the fact that Long John will probably be one of the biggest favourites of the entire day. Punters have him backed down to a 7/4 price and justifiably so as he appears to be one of the sharpest contenders in Godolphin’s 3yo division.

Giovanni Boldini is also getting a lot of attention and could make the breakthrough here with a 3/1 price at the moment. Should he win, expect to see him make a move for the Kentucky Derby as his breeding suggests he will relish the dirt surface at Churchill Downs.
A number of exciting sprinting stars are tackling the Al Quoz Sprint as the 5f race presents a great betting opportunity no matter who you fancy. The talented Shea Shea is the current betting favourite with an 11/8 price that makes him one of the biggest favourites of the day. The real one to watch in this race may wind up being the globetrotting Sole Power - who has proven that he can tangle with anybody.
The 7/1 price on Sole Power right now is a quality one and you can expect him to continue his excellent understanding with top jock Ryan Moore.
The 2014 Dubai Golden Shaheen sees one of Sole Power’s rivals Krypton Factor tackling a very deep group of runners in this 6f all weather race. Krypton Factor is a relatively lengthy 20/1 price right now with the betting being led by the talented Sterling City - who is priced at 11/4 while Rich Tapestry trades as the 3/1 second choice.
This race is where the lone American contender Zee Bros is expected to run - he trades at 25/1 or higher with most major bookmakers.
Impressive super mare The Fugue will be kicking off her 2014 campaign in the Dubai Duty Free and the punters have her favoured to get the job done here with a quality price of 3/1 being floated right now for Lord Webber’s runner. She will be taking on the boys once again and should continue her excellent partnership with William Buick - expect to see her price plunge shortly before the race. Another quality filly, Dank, is set to tackle this race as well and looks good as a 6/1 shot.
Breeders’ Cup winner Magician is the outright favourite for the Dubai Sheema Classic with a price of 3/1 at the outset. This is easily one of the deepest races you will ever see and there are at least half a dozen plausible winners in the mix here. They include the likes of Gentildonna at 7/2 and Cirrus Des Aigles at 6/1. Look out for Mount Athos as a big odds selection at 16/1 while Dunaden is 12/1 to find the line first.
