The racing action itself is coming at us from Epsom, Doncaster and Musselburgh and everything kicks off around 2pm and ends at 4:05 pm with the running of the Epsom Derby. It’s interesting to see them use that as the final race as typically you’ll find the major Group 1 or Grade 1 contests tend to run 3rd or 4th in the sequence with a massive handicap running in the final leg.
There is a 20 horse field to be tackled in the third leg and a 16 horse field in the fifth contest. These are relatively tricky races to decipher but there is still a bit of form in both of them so the chance remains that one will be able to put something together from those without having to go six or seven team and turn an affordable ticket into a mortgage payment.
The opening contest is a listed race at Epsom where we’ve got 11 runners going a 6f distance and looking to make moves forward. A race for two-year-olds, there is definitely a few impressive runners in here and a few that look like they will have learned something from their last efforts. Soul of Motion is the only unraced contender in the mix.
