Fascinating Champion Hurdle Set to Unfold Pt 3
- By A.J. Ryder on February 10, 2014 18:51 GMTMy Tent Or Yours has quietly carved out a huge selection of fans with his gritty performances and impressive jumping ability. He’s only been out twice this year but has looked excellent on both occasions getting the better of a pair of Grade 1 fields and looking good both times out.

He’s really factored into the reckoning a bit more now that he’s been able to beat The New One on Boxing Day at Kempton. Prior to that he had scored at Newcastle against a fairly solid field when sent off as the considerable 8/11 betting favourite. My Tent Or Yours has never finished outside of the top two in any of his 11 rules races and many will be expecting him to put in a similar shift here.
Even for those who don’t reckon he will be able to take on Hurricane Fly successfully, you imagine that the bulk of them will likely be playing him on the bottom end of their forecast tickets. Such is his ability to get home and put in a good effort even when losing. He has only been second four times in his career and the largest margin was 4.5 lengths back in a class 4 hurdles race at Newbury.
The others tend to just be a half or quarter length behind the others and that bodes well for his ability to finish up here.
He doesn’t have a huge amount of Cheltenham experience and was beaten on his only appearance there which came last year when he was second to Champagne Fever in the Supreme Novices. Sent off as the 15/8 favourite on the day, he was just a half-length behind in a hard-fought battle that he will be looking to avenge this day when coming back to compete at a higher level.
