February 8 Scoop6 Betting Preview Pt 4
- By A.J. Ryder on February 7, 2014 18:26 GMTThe fifth race of the Scoop6 sequence is a field of 12 competing in a 6f sprint that is sure to have a few punters scratching their heads. While not quite as tough to handicap as the aforementioned Betfair Hurdle, it will certainly be a bit of a puzzle if you’re looking to get tricky. It will be hard for many punters to look past the impressive record of Perfect Pasture and that’s why he’s now listed as the co-favourite with Absolutely So, who was originally unveiled as the outright betting selection to win this one.

Perfect Pasture has not lost a race since this past August and he has rattled off six wins in a row and is looking for his seventh here. He already has a course and distance victory and has been slugging it out in races very similar to this one. Absolutely So is much more lightly raced and just missed last time in a Class 4 handicap at Kempton. He’s only two wins off of his maiden but still boasts a good strike rate.
We don’t see him competing with Perfect Pasture so we’ll be singling him and also hoping that we can get Absolutely So home in a place bet saver.
For the final leg, we have a nine horse field that is more than likely to get taken down into eight since Secret Beau is now listed as doubtful to turn out for the David Evans yard. Look no further than the solid-looking son of Exceed and Excel Mac’s Power who came back off of a four month freshening to put in a solid second place run in a race that really wasn’t too much better than this one.
He had been campaigned last season at a very high level that was perhaps a bit too heavy for him - mostly taking on Class 2 handicaps and running either last or far towards the back. He hasn’t won in quite a while but this one looks to be the drop he was looking for.
