Fighting Fifth Hurdle Betting Tips PT 2
- By A.J. Ryder on November 30, 2013 23:27 GMTOne of the things that may give an edge in this race is the fact that he’s already been out once so far this season - conquering a Grade 2 contest at Wincanton when sent off as the 9/2 second choice. He is right in the middle of a solid purple patch and punters will find him looking for his fifth win on the bounce.

It will be a Newcastle debut for the vast majority of the contenders here and you have to wonder what their overall abilities are on this tricky 2m course. He is a Grade 1 winner having captured the Tolworth Hurdle last January at Sandown. He has every chance but just doesn’t have quite the flash that My Tent Or Yours really has - despite also boasting a career where he has never finished outside of the top two.
Expect Nick Schofield to sit just off the pace and track My Tent Or Yours directly. With a quality trip and an ability to flash the turn of foot we have seen before, you can expect him to do very well to acquit that 11/4 price tag.
It’s difficult to predict whether he will get hammered hard by the punters on the day but also keep your eyes peeled for a bit of a price rollercoaster as we get closer and closer to the off.
The odds then take a very significant jump from 11/4 up to 9/1 for the likes of Cockney Sparrow and Grumeti, who represent Alan King and John Quinn’s yards, respectively. The Cockney Sparrow enters as the youngest contender here, but she has plenty of experience slogging it out on the handicap circuit and she also should move forward with a good quality run of races under her belt.
She has been racing steadily since late August (at Newcastle, no less) and then again in mid-September (in a victorious effort at Ayr) before capturing a listed contest at Wetherby.
