- By A.J. Ryder on July 28, 2014 15:28 GMTToronado trades around 15/8 for the win here with most major European bookmakers.
War Command is also in the mix here but is a much longer price of 16/1 that makes him a much more appealing each-way selection if you fancy him to run well and one of the two favourites to put in an underwhelming performance. He loomed as one of the most impressive prospects heading into his three-year-old season but he really hasn’t put in a genuinely impressive shift yet this year with a ninth place finish in the 2000 Guineas followed by a fourth place run to Kingman at Ascot then a very poor run at Sandown to finish 7th in the Coral Eclipse to Mukhadram.

Godolphin’s Outstrip is a quality runner who managed to finish third last time out but the bookmakers don’t see much of a chance for him with a 25/1 price tag right now. Coolmore’s Darwin rounds out the field with a 40/1 price.
The Group 1 Nassau Stakes for fillies and mares will run on Saturday and this eagerly anticipated contest sill pit a number of talented distaff runners against each other. Thistle Bird was recently confirmed for the race and she will be well-fancied to get the job done here as she looks for her third win on the bounce.
She was triumphant in the Pretty Polly Stakes over Venus De Milo when sent off at a 4/1 listing while her win the Princess Elizabeth Stakes put away the fears that her poor seasonal debut at York would set her up for an underwhelming campaign throughout the 2014 flat season.
Aidan O’Brien’s Venus De Milo will be a very interesting option here but some might think that she is just that bit outclassed by the likes of Thistle Bird and it remains to be seen whether this filly still has more in the tank to kick on and keep getting better as her four-year-old season rolls on.
