Glorious Goodwood Thursday Preview PT 1

Glorious Goodwood continues again today with a very interesting card that pits a number of top flat contenders against each other. The televised races are particularly interesting and we’ve got some solid group level action unfolding but the card is really anchored by the BetFred Mile.

The first four races look to be the most appealing and we’ve got things kicking off with the Group 3 BetFred Glorious Stakes and a seven horse field will contest the 1m4f distance here and it’s a tricky field of contenders representing good yards. The early betting choice appears to be The Corsican, who is by Galileo out of Danehill mare and comes into the race fresh off a fourth place finish in the Prince of Wales Stakes at Royal Ascot. 

He’s got good form at Goodwood and is 2/2 over the course in handicaps and listed races so there’s plenty going for him here and he’s doing fairly brisk business with a 13/8 price tag. Expect him to be lumped in with plenty of longer-odds selections in the BetFred Mile. 

Dubday represents Al Shaqab racing and trades at 5/1 so many might consider him a potential spoiler. 

In the Bonhams Thoroughbred Stakes we’ve got a Group 3 race kicking off going 1m with Godolphin’s Latharnach trading as the 6/4 favourite for Charlie Appleby. He’s been knocking on the door a bit with only two runs under his belt and he’s only been able to muster up a second place finish in each of them.
