Set to run on February 9, there is a lot to like about the group of chasing stars set to contest this tough Grade 1 race.

While we don’t have jockey declarations yet for this particular race, there are still plenty of clues to let us know this contest may shape up.
The real interesting selection here at this point is Paul Nicholls’ veteran 13-y-o Tidal Bay, who hasn’t made the breakthrough yet this year but looks a very dangerous selection here if he gets into form at just the right time. He’s been out three times so far in 2013, scoring in debut at Wetherby and then putting in a disappointing run in the Betfair Chase at Haydock and then following that up with a third place finish in the Welsh National at Chepstow.
That run in the Welsh National was a solid one and you could reckon that he’ll be able to build on that one as he did finish well ahead of 17 other contenders. The margin was only 3/4’s of a length and he was also sent off as the top weight. It was not the most impressive group of runners but coping with that penalty shows that he’s going to be in good shape on even terms against this quality opposition at Leopardstown.
Tidal Bay was able to score at Leopardstown last season when he captured the Lexus Chase and he will be looking to make it 2/2 on that track with this effort in the Irish Hennessy Gold Cup.
