Hennessy Gold Cup Chase Betting Tips Pt 2
- By A.J. Ryder on November 30, 2013 23:23 GMTYou’d have to reckon that, out of the pair of favourites, you would side with Lord Windermere as he’s simply won better races. Rocky Creek is also unraced at Newbury and lost his last effort of the past season to finish 3/6 to Dynaste in the Grade 2 Mildmay Novices’ Chase.

Rocky Creek does stand out from a ratings perspective and it will be interesting to see what type of tactics they adopt for him in this contest. It’s interesting that Daryl Jacob gets on Rocky Creek while Ruby Walsh will opt for one of the other key contenders Prince De Beauchene, who comes out of Willy Mullins yard.
Prince De Beauchene has already been out once this year and he finished 3/6 to Roi Du Mee at Down Royal in the Grade 1 JNwine.com Champion Chase. Roi Du Mee has been a bit of a bugbear for him as of late, beating him out in both of his 2013 efforts - his only races of the year. He’s been off track for quite a while but the ten year old since has plenty of support here.
Keep your eyes on his price as the 12/1 listing floated out there right now could be interesting if it ticks up closer to the 16/1 margin.
The real wildcard here looks to be Imperial Commander, who would set off quite a scene at Newbury if he was to win. The old man of the group, entering the race at the age of twelve, makes things really interesting because he gets a really nice drop in the weights of this one and could take full advantage of the 5 lbs he gets on Cape Tribulation.
There is absolutely no question about Imperial Commander’s ability to navigate big races and the Gold Cup distance. He was pulled up in his last effort, which came in the Grand National when pulled up at Bechers’.
