Irish Champions Stakes Betting Preview Part 2
- By A.J. Ryder on September 5, 2013 20:37 GMTAs it currently stands, punters will find Declaration of War trading at a competitive price of about 5/2 right now which certainly won’t be too short for his believers, but you do reckon that the savvier punters may wait to see if his price fluctuates heavily on the day - knowing full well that Al Kazeem is going to take a lot of money.

The betting odds are pretty compact with The Fugue trading as the clear second choice in this one with a tempting price of 11/4 for those who are looking to back the big story. It would be very exciting if she was able to capture this race and really make a big statement heading into the business end of the flat season at the end of the fall.
Some might think that this step up in quality might be a little too much too soon as The Fugue had a rather indifferent year based on her three outings this year. She was beaten by Al Kazeem in her two previous attempts against males in Group 1 company before taking a step down to a Group 1 for fillies and mares at York. She was able to get the job done there but she is now stepping back up to face Al Kazeem and a relatively better bunch than she faced in the other contests.
Look for her price to move around significantly based on the pre-race appearance that she makes. If she was running at a festival at some form of a “Ladies’ Day” she would be taking a lot of silly money but you reckon that any late sums coming in for her will be from sharp punters so you have to respect the late action.
