Irving Withdrawn From Betfair Hurdle Consideration
- By A.J. Though going concerns wound up vanquishing the potent hurdlers likelihood of appearing in this contest before the festival, it remains to be seen whether Irish Saint will really be able to deliver with his chief rival withdrawn from consideration.

Thanks to the removal of Irving, it now appears as though Irish Saint will be considered a general 5/1 by most major bookmakers ahead of this contest that unfolds in just over 48 hours. Look for him at 6/1 and 11/2 with a few different books but, by and large, 5/1 is the top price right now.
With Irving now out of the reckoning here, the main challengers position seems to be heading in Dell’Arca’s direction. Though he had been competing with about four or five other key contenders in their bid to do away with Irish Saint and Irving and potentially emerge as the betting favourite, it now looks like he is gaining momentum as the crucial second choice in what looks to be a fascinating encounter.
You’ll find Dell’Arca available at anywhere between 7/1 and 6/1 depending on whom you’re wagering with and most will be hoping that his disappointing last run (which saw him unseat his rider at a crucial stage) won’t be a repeat here when he is up against high-quality Grade 3 company.
Though many of these contenders aren’t seasoned hurdlers at this point, there is still plenty of opportunity for somebody to take a bold step forward and really assert themselves.
