King George Day at Ascot Betting Preview PT 1
- By A.J. Ryder on July 25, 2015 01:38 GMTOne of the most anticipated Group 1 events on the summer is set to unfold at Ascot on Saturday with the latest running of the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes. The race itself features the most important runner in Britain at the moment with Golden Horn trading as the significant odds-on favourite to secure his latest Group 1 contest but the rain in the forecast looks like it might change the equation pretty quickly and there is a solid chance that he may not run.

There are a few stepping up to challenge him in the big contest and you reckon there will be a few punters who are stepping up and trying to beat him here as the rain looks to come down.
The card itself is quite impressive and there are some great betting opportunities during the build-up and following the race. We’ll be taking a look at some of them and trying to get a better gauge on how things are expected to shape up for the big card at Ascot on Saturday.
The action kicks off at 1:30 with the Titanic Belfast Winkfield Stakes, which only boasts four runners and things look to be pretty evenly matched between Manaafidh, Platitude and Sixth Sense who are all trading within half a point of each other. Essenaitch is the 20/1 outsider here and you get the feeling that the Zofanny two-year-old might be able to spring a surprise and pull something off here or at least potentially affect the forecast wager.
The contenders coming in here are all have won races before but the punters seem to be willing to back the Sheikh Hamdan horse based off the potential for big upside after that victory in his last race despite only being sent out of the gate at a 10/1 margin.
