King George Day at Ascot Betting Preview PT 2

Sixth Sense represents an interesting shot here since he’s listed placed at Ascot but seems to struggle when he’s up against genuinely top-class competition. It appears as though Mark Johnson is still trying to figure him out but the victory that he won at Pontefract really shows that he’s able to pull off a solid performance when the conditions are right.

The fact remains that Sixth Sense might simply be a decent handicapper and not the type who’s going to be really pursuing listed and group level contests on a regular basis or anything. 

The second race of the day is the Princess Margaret Juddmonte Stakes, which is a Group 3 contest going 6f and we’ve got the William Haggas-trained Besharah looming as the 6/4 favourite heading into the race. The American-bred Dixie Union filly by Kodiac was just nosed out of a Group 2 race at Newmarket two weeks ago but she’s probably a bit better known for finishing third behind the monstrous American Acapulco who was one of the stories of the Royal Ascot meeting. 

It’s worth noting that she broke her maiden at Ascot and is yet to finish outside of the top 3 in all four races she’s run. She’s beaten a few of the contenders already in this race so you can understand why she’s trading at such a short price in the 7 horse field and the simple fact remains that if she makes a genuinely solid pre-race appearance than you can count on her to take a significant amount of money during the build-up to the race itself. 

8/1 Salvo is the most interesting contender in here coming into the race after scoring at Newmarket in her only career attempt. Owned by A E Oppenheimer, who also owns Golden Horn, you can assume that this one might be sitting on a big race and with Frankie Dettori in the irons, you might get a decent run at a very solid price tag in this race. 

It should be noted that Great Page will not run in this contest unless the ground is right so that’s worth paying attention to as well.
