King George Day at Ascot Betting Preview PT 3

The third contest is a solid handicap race going 1m. We’ve got 11 runners in this one and you can bank on this one remaining a very competitive betting contest with a lot of different runners representing competitive yards. Grand Inquisitor is ranking as the betting favourite in this one and the Sir Alex Ferguson-owned three-year-old by Dansili has shown plenty of back class so you can expect a repeat performance here since the placing of the race looks to be just right for him.

Andrew Balding’s Rocket Punch switches over from the all weather but appears to be in good form so there’s plenty of upside here despite only having three races under his belt so far.

Godolphin’s Portage is in with a shout as well according to the betting market with a price of about 7/1 on the class drop after two relatively uninspiring performances so far this season.

Up next we have a massive handicap in the Gigaset International Stakes which is a 7f event that will see 29 different runners contesting the course at Ascot. A number of the usual suspects from the Heritage Handicap circuit have shown up here and we’ve got everybody from Belgian Bill and Balty Boys all the way to Hawkeyethenoo who has gone down in the weights recently and could actually bet set for his first victory in about three years or so.

Speculative Bid ranks as the betting favourite right now and you can expect him to continue building on that impressive handicap victory over course and distance at Ascot back in May.

He has a solid record in these types of races and acquitted himself well running at Royal Ascot in the Royal Hunt Cup, mustering up a fifth place finish in a field of 30 that is known as one of the toughest handicaps to actually hit the board because of the huge amount of horses that are in the field.
