With the name George widely-considered the favoured name for the new future king, it’s appropriate that the King George VI could offer up so much intrigue and value. There are currently eleven contenders in the mix for this race and many of the undercard contests are still awaiting the next declaration stage so it makes it a bit tricky to analyze the bigger handicaps.
Cirrus Des Aigles appears to be the significant early ante post favourite and he can be backed at a 13/8 price for those who are confident he’s going to continue to gain momentum as we get closer to post time.
He disappointed punters who had bet him down to the even money favourite on his seasonal debut in the Group 1 Grand Prix De Saint-Cloud when he faded out poorly when it mattered most, finish a well-beaten fifth in an eleven-strong field. The interesting subplot developing for this race is that Cirrus Des Aigles’ vanquisher in that race, Novellist, returns for a second kick at the can in this tricky mile and a half contest at Ascot.
Novellist is currently offering up a 4/1 ante post price for anyone who wants to back him this early in the contest. He has taken two races on the bounce and looks like a significant opportunity here for those who see his form translating to his first effort on British shores.
