King George VI Ante Post Betting Tips Part 2
- By A.J. Ryder on July 23, 2013 16:08 GMTHis seasonal debut came at Baden-Baden when he captured a Group 2 outing by just a head after being sent off as the 9/10 favourite. He took the big race at Saint Cloud by well over a length and he really seemed to flourish over the soft going. He wants every part of 1m4f and will be dangerous if he gets the ride he truly wants - held up in touch in the midfield with a clear route to the finish line when they start to quicken 2f out.

The aptly-monikered Very Nice Name has been declared a key contender by a number of racing observers who keep their eye on the middle eastern racing circuit. He finished a very respectable third to the unfortunate St Nicholas Abbey in the Sheema Classic at Meydan. Sent off at 66/1 on the day, he was about 3 1/2 furlongs back and really loomed as a best of the rest selection following St Nick’s and Gentildonna. Dunaden, vanquished by Novellist last time out, was the fourth place contender there.
While Very Nice Name deployed a late-running style in his last two victories (including a listed contest in Qatar, he was able to score listed victories in lesser races in the two that he attempted prior to that and both were winning efforts. One reckons there is a bit more versatility on display here than many would initially think and he now needs to prove that he can build on that excellent effort last time out.
A full 20/1 price offers up significant each-way value and looms large as a very interesting bet for those who think some of the big names here will cancel each other out.
Trading Leather, the victor of the Irish Derby, will be at or around his current price of 9/2 once they actually reach the gate on Saturday. You don’t expect to see too much fluctuation but it does look many fancy him to acquit himself properly on his debut at Ascot. He has taken two races in a row and will be looking to prove that his Group 1 score last time out was no fluke.
