King George VI Chase Betting Preview Pt 2

Punters will find Bobs Worth trading at a 7/1 price tag in ante post markets for this race and he looks set to survive the declaration stages and won’t have a prior run to complicate anything.

Captain Chris is one of those jumpers who never seems to shy away from the big races and, therefore, doesn’t have the stellar selection of blockbuster wins you’ll find some horses have as they slog it out in the higher portions of the listed handicaps. Captain Chris seems to only contest Grade 1 events with the odd Grade 2 thrown in as a pre-season prep.

This time around, he has only one entry and that’s the King George VI Chase at Kempton. Having endured a tough campaign last year when he won only the first start of a five race season, his connections are obviously attempting a more limited effort this year with an eye on Cheltenham glory. Look for Captain Chris to only run at Kempton (provided it actually goes off on Boxing Day) and then appear at Cheltenham, Aintree and (quite possibly) Punchestown.

He has a quality rating of around 164, which obviously isn’t anywhere near Bobs Worth, but still placing him in the category commanding the most respect. He boasts a quality each way price and has proven he can hang tough in races like this and at least stay up for a slice. If you can find a book offering up four places, he is an absolute steal at 25/1 ante post.

The overall betting favourite appears to be Dynaste who will turn out for the David Pipe yard and look to build on that quality performance at Aintree at the end of last season. He also mustered up a second place showing at Cheltenham in the Jewson Novices’ Chase and he deserves respect for what he put together over there.
