King George VI Chase Betting Tips Pt 2

David Pipe’s Dynaste is a very interesting selection here that could be set to fire a big race after acquitting himself very well in the Betfair Chase on his seasonal debut. It is a very confident campaign they have planned for him and why not - he loves Cheltenham and won at Kempton last year in one of the undercard races, albeit at novice level.

He will up against some seasoned runners here, but with Tom Scudamore up you can bank on him being able to get a result here. Although 7/2 is a bit too short on a horse that has only had a single race out of the novice circuit, there is still a lot to like about him and the quality temperament he displayed at Haydock last time out.

Paul Nicholls, who dominated this race for years with the living legend Kauto Star, is poised for another crack at this one with his talented eight-year-old Al Ferof. He opened his account with a Grade 2 score at Ascot this year in the Amlin Chase. It’s also interesting that it was his first effort with Daryl Jacob in the irons as opposed to Ruby Walsh. It will be fascinating to see if the pair can combine for another epic score - one that would certainly vault him to the front of the ante post market for the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

It will be his first start at Kempton so that is definitely a question mark, but you know that Nicholls can pick his spots well so don’t be surprised if he factors into the reckoning. Whether you actually want to play him to win at 9/2 is one thing, but he will be in the mix for sure and will probably take plenty of casual money.

The other Paul Nicholls charge in the matter is Silviniaco Conti who has been punching it out with the top contenders far and wide for quite some time but hasn’t really been in the best run of form in his past few. He was traveling well at 4/1 when he fell late on in the Cheltenham Gold Cup and then failed as the favourite next time out at Aintree in the  Betfred Bowl. He was third to Cue Card in the Betfair Chase when making his seasonal debut and punters will be wondering how many more times he’s going to take a lot of money and still disappoint.

He had a smashing 2012, it must be said, as he finished up the season well and then put in several good runs at the start of the following season. Notably, he beat Long Run in the Betfair Chase and then toppled The Giant Bolster at Newbury next time out.

He has proven that he can handle nearly anybody and it’s just a matter of how well he runs on the day. Look for him at 6/1.
