Latest 2011 Cheltenham Festival Market Movers

We’ll be taking a look at some of the more prominent market movers in the build-up to the Cheltenham Festival – which kicks off a week from tomorrow. The rule of thumb will likely be to keep our eyes fixed on the prominent contenders in the major races in the first two days. We’ll be taking a look at the other two days later on.

2011 Supreme Novices’ Hurdle

Cue Card is down to 9/4 after being bounced back up to 5/2 for a while. Spirit Son now trades as the second favourite with most major bookmakes and you’ll find the undefeated Nicky Henderson charge priced at a very reasonable 11/2 down from 6/1. Sprinter Sacre had been down as low as 7/1 from his previous price of 11/1. He is now up to 8/1 and seems to be on the drift. One of the most notable recent price drops has been Sam Winner down from 25/1 to 16/1 but still not as close as he’d like to his lowest price of 12/1. Relatively obscure Irish jumper Magen’s Star (a son of Galileo) has absolutely tumbled in price from a high of 66/1 down to 28/1.

2011 Champion Hurdle

Things are a bit all over the place at the top of this market with Binocular, Menorah and Hurricane Fly all contesting the favourites position. Binocular has settled at 3/1 – down from 9/2. Menorah and HF both trade at 9/2. Soldatino has rocketed up from 25/1 to 40/1 and is drifting heavily. Get Me Out Of Here went from 25/1 to 33/1 and is now a massive 50/1 shot. Khyber Kim is down to 16/1 from a high of 25/1.

2011 RSA Chase

One very prominent contender distorts this market heavily and Time For Rupert continues to hold steady at 9/4. Second favourites Jessies Dream and Aiteen Thirtythree have both been clipped down to 8/1 and look to be taking some justifiable money. Long-shot Tharawaat was at 33/1 and drifted to 50/1 – he’s now been bet back down to 33/1.

2011 Queen Mother Champion Chase

Master Minded continues to trade at 9/4 while Big Zeb sits just behind at a 3/1 price – also relatively steady for the past week or so. Sizing Europe has been clipped from 12/1 to 10/1 while Captain Cee Bee has seen a recent price cut. Punters have moved off of Gauvain and he’s drifted from 16/1 up to 33/1. J’Y Vole has dropped from 50/1 to 33/1.
