Latest 2012 Grand National Odds

The latest odds for the 2012 Grand National at Aintree have been released and there's been a bit of movement about them, though a number of key contenders remain in the mix and continue to demand some seriously enticing price tags. Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Synchronised is going in as the top weight with the top OR as his yard goes in search of a truly unique double. AP knows how to get the job done and will be looking for his second on the bounce.

Set to carry 11-10, he's now been bet down to a single digit price of 9/1 which puts him right alongside co-favourite Junior.

Most will remember David Pipe's runner for his victory in the Kim Muir Challenge at last year's Cheltenham Festival. Without a win since last March, he's been on track twice this season and did show plenty of improvement when running at Doncaster to finish second, just beaten on the line, to Ikorodu Road.

He's one of the few National entries you'll find running at Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood in some of the higher profile handicaps.

A versatile jumper with lots to prove still, punters seem to find Junior an extremely enticing National prospect.

Cappa Bleu ranks as the third favourite with a 12/1 price coming on the rear of a win and two place finishes from this season. He's run some longer-distance races and has hit the board against large fields. He has a notable win at Haydock early in the season when he conquered some rather impressive names. He continues to take money and should set up nicely for this one. Note that he is relatively lightly-raced for a ten-year-old and his yard tends to pick their spots well.

Chicago Grey, West End Rocker, Seabass and last year's winner Ballabriggs are all trading at competitive 14/1 prices. West End Rocker has drifted upwards a bit and was reigning as the National favourite for a while in the ante post markets. Ballabriggs is good odds for a repeat but Chicago Grey will likely get bet down as well.

Seabass has strung together seven wins in a row and will certainly threaten, though this is a dramatic test for him.

Former winner Mon Mome returns, as does Becauseicouldntsee as well as an interesting outside shot in The Midnight Club.
