Long Run Considered Key Grand National Contender PT 2

You will also likely be able to back some of those higher odds contenders at better odds on the exchange on the day of the race and you will have been able to take a look at them on the course as well that day.

Another really interesting option who remains in the mix is Sunnyhillboy - he’s priced as low as 25/1 but appears to be a more general 33/1 with most major bookmakers.
The genuine contenders here appear to be the likes of Teaforthree, who can be had at a 20/1 price with most bookmakers and will likely go off shorter on the day having been pointed firmly at the National for quite some time. The real wildcard to watch, from an odds-perspective, is the talented Tidal Bay who has been out twice this year and looks like he could be a major factor when things get interesting.
Monbeg dude is an interesting option in the 20/1-25/1 range and looks every bit the talented fancy that he really should be. Triolo D’Alene is fresh off of a victory as well and there are some books who have priced him as low as 16/1 - making him the outright punters choice in the ante post market for this one.
He was able to demonstrate his proficiency in the Grade 3 Hennessy Gold Cup at a 20/1 price when he was able to best a quality field of 21 that included the likes of Rocky Creek, Our Father, Houblon Des Obeaux and Terminal. Adding further credibility to his claims is the fact that he was able to conquer the Topham Chase last year at Aintree on National Day when he beat out a tough field of 29 different runners. He was available at 14/1 that day and likely rewarded e/w punters who had confidence in him and Barry Geraghty’s ability to conquer their opposition.
Now rated 147, he will be carrying some extra weight, but has shown his ability to handle that type of going when carrying anywhere up to 11-6.
