Meydan Betting Preview PT 1
- By A.J. Ryder on January 13, 2016 19:26 GMTWe have a really interesting card set to kick off on Thursday morning at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai. After things started with a really interesting opening days fixture at Meydan we now continue with a few solid looking key prep races races for other contests that will be happening later on during the Carnival calendar as we get closer to March.
The opening contest is the Mina Rashid going one mile on the dirt surface at Meydan racecourse. Sheikh Hamdan’s Nathr looks to be the key selection here as a lukewarm favourite carrying a three to one price tag at the moment. Stormardal was able to open his account for the year on New Year’s Day and he comes in as the second favourite here with a solid 5/1 listing being floated by the bookmakers at the moment.
It had been well over a year since the son of Shamardal was able to find the winners circle and the punters are thinking he has a real chance to make it two on the bounce here.
Next up we have the UAE 1000 Guineas Trial with a group of very promising three year old fillies pursuing their shot at UAE glory later on in the Carnival meeting. Saeed Bin Suroor’s Promising Run looks to be coming into the race as the significant betting favourite with a solid 7/4 margin being floated right now. It will be fascinating to see how the odds will shift around during the build up to the big race itself.
Promising Run has a Group 2 victory to her credit at Newmarket from last year so expect her to be very competitive if she runs to the best of her ability on the seasonal debut here.
