Meydan Preview for Thursday Pt 2
- By A.J. Ryder on February 12, 2014 21:24 GMTMike De Kock saddles the mysterious Wednaan for this one and he’s only had one run in his entire career - a maiden at Yarmouth last September, but he was able to get the job done and is taking a substantial amount of money ahead of this race. Right now he’s third favourite with a price of around 11/2.

Emirates Flyer lines up with Kieren Fallon booked for the trip and they’ve already got a victory under their belts so far this season and that may make all the difference on the run-in as this talented son of Acclamation takes a significant step up in class but he should be able to handle himself pretty well here.
Punters will find Emirates Flyer around 8/1 right now.
The third contest of the day is a tricky turf handicap going 1m1f. Mike De Kock saddles the talented Vercingtorix - a German-bred who has won all of his three previous efforts including the Group 1 Daily News 2000 at Greyville. His last two victories have both been by a nose so you get the feeling that this is one who really knows how to grind it out. You are expecting them to use this contest as a prep for a run on Dubai World Cup day in a Group level race so expect him to have a real go here though he probably won’t be pushed to his absolute limits.
Forjatt catches the eye a bit after moving over from Jebel Ali following a win in the Group 3 Jebel Ali Mile. He’s been tangling on the dirt over there and the move back to turf could see him maintain some of that speed and precociousness that served him well coming up the hill at Jebel Ali.
The fourth contest is the Firebreak Stakes, a Group 3 affair, where we’ve got a line-up of very recognizable names on this circuit including Snowboarder, Haatheq, Mars and Mufarrh. It appears to be Variety Club who is getting all of the attention ahead of this race, however as he will be seeking his sixth victory on the bounce after shipping in from South Africa.
