Meydan Preview for Thursday Pt 3

He has taken a substantial amount of money in each race he’s run in and looks set to kick on nicely here if he runs up to that par. He has been off since June of 2013, however, and it may pay dividends to side with a fresher runner here who has some recent on-track experience.

Haatheq looks as dangerous as ever and he came home behind Forjatt and Colmar Kid in his last effort at Jebel Ali. He is most notable for coming in second behind Soft Falling Rain in the Godolphin Mile last year and at 10/1, he looks like he could be a major player if he runs back to that form.

The fifth race is the Al Shindagha Sprint, a Group 3 contest that sees the annual return of Krypton Factor to the middle east. However, it is United Color that is getting all of the attention for this tricky contest with the Adena Springs-bred five-year-old son of Ghostzapper looming as the major threat here. He conquered a listed sprint at Meydan about a month ago and looked really good doing it. He’ll be tough to catch if he runs back to that form.

It’s also worth noting the presence of Godolphin’s Bello, who has just shifted over from Australia after acquitting himself well in a few lower level Group contests and handicaps.

The final race of the day is usually a tricky one and Sheikhzayedroad is looking for his second victory in a row for David Simcock after kicking things off nicely at 7/1 about a month ago in a Meydan handicap. He has been running in some really good races back in England and has been an ever-present on the handicap circuit. Look for him at 9/2.

Aussie Reigns and Hayley Turner will be looking for revenge in their effort after last time and they do entice at a quality listing of 9/1.

Selections: Layali Al Andalus, Wednaan, Forjatt, Haatheq, United Color, Sheikhzayedroad
