National Hunt Betting Preview for Saturday November 19: Coral Hurdle

There's a lot to like about this year's iteration of the Coral Hurdle as Oscar Whisky seems to be taking the bulk of the money at this early stage in the ante post game with a 6/4 listing being floated by most major bookmakers. This one isn't as wide-open as some of the other key fixtures on the day but punters will likely be looking to Overturn as the key spoiler for Oscar Whisky.

Overturn got things off to a really solid start this year when conquering the Governor's Cup Field over General Miller back in August. He's had a few months on the sidelines and will be well worked out and in very solid form for this one. An 11/4 price will likely drop going forward into the fixture.

Paul Nicholls sends a lightly-raced gelding into this one in King Of The Night and he's undefeated in his two efforts so far this season – conquering the talented Cockney Trucker and then topping First Fandango – both by a solid 5 length margin. His 5/1 price tag shows there are more than a few who are looking at him right now and Nicholls is known to pick his spots well but he won't get Ruby, who will be racing at Haydock on Saturday. That's something to remember.

Celestial Halo is also a horse coming back into form and this might be the win-only value play. Taking a Grade 2 at Wincanton on a seasonal debut is a clear indication of a horse in form and he's been unable to get the season started with a victory since 2009. The seven-year-old son of Galileo carries top-weight alongside Oscar Whisky but he should be able to reproduce that quality performance – look for him to go make or break during the run-in.

Katchit is the potential improver here and is unraced in over a year. He didn't really have a year to write home about in 2009/10 and just looked a bit off towards the end of it. His 2008 campaign was quality and the 25/1 price tag here shows that there's definitely a few who think he might come on well. Alan King knows what he's doing with these types and it would be fantastic to see him get back into form at an early stage in the season.
