The presence of Godolphin’s Wedding Ring at the bottom of the handicap also adds another element to the fixed odds market and it will be fascinating to see how his odds fluctuate prior to the race.
The CSP Europe Free Handicap is the listed affair set to be tackled at Newmarket and, while there are only five runners in the mix here, you can bank on this race having some interesting repercussions for these younger contenders.

Roger Varian and Paul Hanagan team up for one of Sheikh Hamdan’s contenders, Mushir, as he puts his undefeated record on the line heading into this one. He only has two races under his belt but looks well handicapped for this one. The only contender he really has to watch out for is Ryan Moore’s charge Shifting Power – who enters the race for his seasonal debut and also putting an undefeated record on the line.
The Nell Gwyn Stakes for 3yo fillies looks to be the feature contest of the day and the Group 3 face off should be a key stepping stone for a number of these contenders. Godolphin’s Folk Melody has only been out once but looks interesting and is clearly pointed at this contest. One of the other key ones to keep your eye on is Dorothy B who lines up for John Gosden and will get William Buick in the irons.
Another Godolphin charge, Majeyda, looks like one to watch moving forward and the blue team double could be in the frame.
The Feilden Stakes is another listed contest and it looks like an interesting face-off between some upstart contenders from relatively top yards. Godolphin will saddle True Story and could very well make the breakthrough here if he gets the right type of pace scenario over the 1m1f distance.
Madeed and Barley Mow both look to be looming as the main contenders ahead of this one and it’s worth keeping your eyes on their prices as the market unfolds.
The next contest is the Bobis Race and Sheikh Hamdan’s Munjaz looks to be one to keep your eye on and he will be getting Ryan Moore up for the trip. It’s a decent option but be sure to watch out for Godolphin’s Wahgah.
The last effort of the day is a 6f contest for 3yos and this one looks to be absolutely wide open. While about half the field here could potentially win the race, be sure to keep your eye on Marco Botti’s Quiet Warrior.
