Newmarket Saturday Betting Preview PT 3
- By A.J. Ryder on July 10, 2015 20:22 GMTA real wildcard in here is Unforgiving Minute who lines up for Clive Cox’s yard and looks very interesting despite making a seasonal debut here. To close out his 2014 campaign, the four-year-old Cape Cross colt was able to rattle off three wins in a row - two of which came as the betting favourite - and they wouldn’t have spotted him here if they didn’t think he could win this race.

The punters seem confident and they’ve got him priced down all the way to 8/1 as he looks to kick off 2015 with a serious bang.
Jim Crowley’s Jallota (who has been raced 22 times and is still only four) is another that emerges as a fancy here with a fairly sharp reversal of fortunes two races back when he finished second from 13 at Chester and then romped home to beat a field of 17 at York next out in a Class 2 handicap against relatively similar company. He was sent off at 16/1 that day and would have delivered nicely for each-way punters
He’s 12/1 here but could emerge as a decent each-way selection since they’ll be paying five places on this one.
The feature contest is the Group 1 Darley July Cup and it runs at 3:45 with a straight-up shoot-out expected between Brazen Beau, who ships in from Australia and will be looking to avenge his tough loss at Royal Ascot, and Sheikh Hamdan’s Muhaarar - both of whom trade at a 5/2 margin right now with the bookmakers. Brazen Beau is a very physically impressive horse and he was unlucky not to get his victory against Undrafted, who simply ran better on the day.
Prior to that, the Godolphin trainee has put together a steady series of Group 1 victories in his native Australia and much was expected of him on his English debut. It was only a half-length loss and he’s been turned around quickly and pointed towards this one so you can expect that he might be able to get the reverse and show just how good he really can be.
