She only wound up finishing a length and a half behind that day and looked a real coup for place punters as she was 33/1 to win and a hefty price to hit the board. However, she came into that race with some good form and this year she has been knocking on the door mostly and only just made the breakthrough last time out at her preferred course. She’s shown that she likes Cheltenham but you sort of get the feeling that the eight-year-old mare might not be able to strike twice in two years with similar efforts. 

Punters will find Sirene D’Ainay anywhere from 8/1 to 10/1 depending on whom you’re wagering with. 

Those looking to spoil the Quevega party will likely be looking at Down Ace who only boasts an entry for this race and is hovering around the 12/1 margin while coming into the race with, seemingly, all kinds of form. Down Ace is undefeated this year and, though she only just was able to get home ahead of Blue Buttons at Taunton last time out, she’s been able to rattle off six wins in a row after showing up at Cheltenham for a bumper after point-to-pointing at some rather obscure locations. 

She is definitely a proper each-way selection and, though this is a significant step up in quality, you have to respect that this may just be a horse who knows how to find the line. It’s not often you get a chance to back a horse who is 5/5 in rules races at a price as high as 16/1.
