Orfevre The Current Arc De Triomphe Favourite Part 2
- By A.J. Ryder on September 19, 2013 18:02 GMTPrior to his loss in the Juddmonte International, Al Kazeem had been ripping up his competition left and right, having conquered a slew of Group 2 and Group 1 contests over the summer months. He had been priced at around 6/1 for the Arc in the ante post market but he has since drifted quite heavily and is now priced at around 14/1.

The Fugue is being pointed towards the Arc and will then ship over to Santa Anita for the 2013 Breeders’ Cup as her connections will be looking for another big victory in California to go along with the one she scooped up last year. She trades alongside Al Kazeem as a 14/1 shot.
The real wildcard in this race is the three-year-old filly Treve who has catapulted herself into the equation by rattling off a string of Group 1 scores this year. Only raced four times in total, she is definitely still fresh for this contest and will be looking to take a keen hold early on in this contest.
Having read some of her running lines you get the idea that this is a very special filly and, though this is a massive step up, she deserves respect and should be able to tangle with older colts. She will need to be supplemented but, considering the fact that she is owned by a Sheikh, you get the feeling that money isn’t really a huge issue.
By Motivator out of an Anabaa mare, Treve is definitely one to watch closely as we get closer to the Arc. She deserves respect at her ante post price of 4/1 but you should probably wait until everything is made official.
Novellist is another important runner to watch during the build up to the Arc and the four-year-old by German sire Monsun has won at Baden-Baden twice this year. His major score was capturing the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes over Trading Leather. Scoring by a massive five lengths on the day, if he can replicate that performance then the Arc could be his for the taking.
Novellist can be backed at 6/1.
