Punters Backing McCoy for Grand National Repeat

The past few hours have seen the ante post markets picking up significantly ahead of the 2011 John Smith's Grand National and The Midnight Club is no longer the standout favourite. A number of punters seem convinced that last year's winner Don't Push It, who gets AP McCoy in the irons once again, is set to make it back-to-back Grand Nationals.

Currently bet down to 10/1 you have to wonder whether that's a genuinely wise move as he has looked absolutely pants in all of his outings this year. The 153 OR he carded in the National last year has fallen to a 135 in his tame tenth from twenty-three in the Pertemps Final. AP was up again that day and he was definitely outmatched.

What A Friend has drifted up slightly to a 14/1 price tag from the 12/1 he was listed at with most major bookmakers. He is a genuine live mount and will be a serious threat is his jumping is up to snuff. He should be able to stay the distance and he will likely take a fair amount of money on the day.

The Midnight Club is now priced at 11/1 and that's just off the favourites position that he has carved out over the bulk of this week. Backstage and Oscar Time both trade at 14/1 while perennial National contender Big Fella Thanks is priced at a reasonable 25/1.

Bluesea Cracker was purchased by JP McManus shortly before the National and he saw a large price drop based on that. At the moment he is priced at 25/1 but could be a genuine contender.
