- By A.J. Ryder on October 19, 2015 21:49 GMTAs we are now entering the tail end of the 2015 flat racing season, attention is turning to the last big Group 1 of the year - which always sets a tone for the following year’s classic season. There is a lot to like about the way that the 2015 Racing Post Trophy is shaping up and we have a slightly larger field than normal in the mix here with ten different runners.

It probably goes without saying that the Aidan O’Brien contingent have a massive stranglehold on this field and make up half of the pre-entries. The big one that virtually everybody seems to be the most concerned about, however, is not an O’Brien trained charge and instead comes from the yard of John Gosden.
Foundation is undefeated so far this season and the son of Zoffany has acquitted himself well - looming as the top candidate out of the stallion’s first crop of foals to hit the track.
He was last seen conquering the Group 2 Juddmonte Royal Lodge stakes when sent off at a 5/4 margin at Newmarket back in late September. Prior to that he took a listed effort at Haydock and won by a solid three lengths. He also was able to break his maiden at Haydock park - it’s worth noting that he has been sent off as the betting favourite in every race he’s run.
Right now, the bookmakers have him best-price 7/4 with a number of books taking him into a 6/4 margin as momentum builds and his connections confirm the presence of Frankie Dettori in the irons.
