Sandown Friday Betting Tips Pt 2
- By A.J. One of the shortest prices of the entire day is in the 3:15 at Sandown where John Gosden and William Buick team up on Western Hymn as they take on a tricky selection of contenders here in the Bet365 Classic Trial. The really interesting one here is Red Galileo if he can cope with the dramatic step up in class from his last effort. He is unraced since last October but won as the 1/5 favourite in his final contest at Kempton, which was a weak race, but he really showed that he has potential if he has moved forward over the winter season.
It’s tough to get past Western Hymn though and his quality Class 3 victory at Newbury a few weeks back is indication that there is likely a lot to look forward to from this colt by High Chaparral as the season continues onwards.
The Bet365 Handicap is the 3:50 and we have a fairly deep twelve-strong field for this one slogging it out over a relatively tricky handicap. Charles Molson gets the nod right now from the bookmakers and punters alike, but he appears to be sort of a lukewarm favourite with a price that has been fluctuating pretty heavily. He’s in to 11/4 from a 5/1 listing when the market opened and will likely continue to take money.
It is also notable that Pushkin Museum - with Ryan Moore in the irons - has been taken into 7/1 from 8/1 in Thursday’s trading.
The next race is a wide open maiden contest that doesn’t even have early prices up yet but, with the minimum of form her eto actually work with, we will be looking at Luca Cumani’s Petticoast Lane as well as Millionaires Row who comes out of John Gosden’s yard.
The nightcap is another Bet365 Handicap and it’s a class 3 that has attracted a deep group of competitors from the Juddmonte, Godolphin and Sheikh Hamdan yards. The betting favourite right now though appears to be the Hannon/Hughes combo of Windshear who is trading briskly at 7/4 right now.
