Saturday Betting Preview for Cheltenham Part 3

Hunt Ball will certainly take money and many will be expecting him to finally come good in this campaign. He's been out twice and both have left plenty to be desired though he did go close in his last effort at Kempton in a Grade 2. He had taken a listed contest at Cheltenham last season and many will be expecting him to kick on – look for him to take a late hit at the betting windows if he makes a good pre-race appearance.

Quantitativeeasing is always capable of springing a surprise and there is some good shifts at Cheltenham on his form card. When he does win, it doesn't tend to be by too much unless it's a very weak race but you can expect Barry Geraghty to stick around and maybe put something together here.

David Pipe's Consigliere looks more than capable of taking this one and he still boasts a very good weighting for this one with a 10-9 putting him in the bottom half of the table. He's not had much luck at Cheltenham in the past but he showed some really nice ability in his last race and looks to have turned a corner. Kieran Edgar should take the mount once again and continue a quality partnership.

The wild shot in the dark is Tullamore Dew who could take advantage of a very light weighting – look for him to be there-or-thereabouts.

The Victor Chandler Chase

This is one of those races that is really all just about one horse – Sprinter Sacre. The undefeated son of Network will have his final outing before the festival. Look for him to kick on nicely and tidy this one up to solidify his Cheltenham credentials. The ground would have to be pretty darn bad if he was to lose and you reckon that connections would withdraw him at the first chance if that looked like the case. There is some good money up for grabs here but its Cheltenham momentum that matters most at this point.

There are only a few real genuine challengers here and Somersby and Sanctuaire rank amongst the leading fancies. Somersby hasn't won a race in three tries but he's actually set for a seasonal debut here. He has shown the ability to hit off the lay-off in the past and he will likely deploy his trademark tracking trip.

Sanctuaire is another one of those talented jumpers that just doesn't seem to have much luck when he winds up at Cheltenham. He comes in off an impressive Grade 2 score last time out at Kempton when he bested a field of 5 by a 13 length margin. He was able to beat out Somersby by a 17 length margin at Sandown last year when sent off at 9/2. He's taken four of his last five and will be a real Cheltenham mover if he manages to even test Sprinter Sacre and give him a bit of a scare.
