The 2:15 at Doncaster is a Grade 2 Juvenile Hurdle that features a relatively short field but one that is long on talent. We have several top yards represented here with Nicky Henderson, Paul Nicholls and Donald McCain all offering up entries here. It is the Henderson charge Peace And Co who is a one-out winner with the bookmakers offering him up at an odds-on price of about 1.90 right now.
He got things off to a great start but was in a rather limited race against only two others. He was sent off as the longest shot on the board however, triumphing at 32/5 (in a three-horse race) to win by three and a half lengths. He looks a talented contender to watch and could very well wind up being a factor in the market for the Supreme Novices Hurdle.
The Paul Nicholls entry Marracudja shares the co-second-favourite slot with Donald McCain’s undefeated Starchitect. The Nicholls selection is another interesting sort that he’s brought in from Auteil although they usually boast a slightly better record than this one who finished towards the back of all three races. However, it has been said that Nicholls is quite high on the horse and the confident placement means that it could have a lot more to offer than the form card might suggest.
Starchitect has looked good in his previous two efforts since switching over from the flat back in May. Both have been Class 4 efforts and he has looked good in both of them despite only beating relatively limited fields. He has recent form to back though and many might prefer the son of Sea The Stars (out of a Sadler’s Wells mare to boot) to the Nicholls charge thanks to the pair of October victories.
Both horses are currently trading at 5.50.
