Saturday Scoop6 Betting Preview
- By A.J. Ryder on December 14, 2012 16:14 GMT
There’s a very winnable Scoop6 card kicking off over fences on Saturday and there are only two really deep fields to be navigated - one of them has 18 runners entered at this stage while the final one boasts a full 16 contenders. Some cheaper tickets can get put together on this one fairly easily and we have some high-profile jumpers ready to compete.

The day’s feature contest is the Stanjames.com International Hurdle while the Paul Stewart Ironspine Charity Challenge Gold Cup has attracted some prominent names as well.
The 1:20 first race has nine contenders and Oiseau Du Nuit carries a full stone handicap against the next highest-weighted contender in Pepite Rose. At the bottom of the weights is David Pipe’s Garynella, who looked to have just found some form in his last race after knocking on the door for a while. Look for Oh Crick to move forward after showing improvement last time out.
The 1:35 at Doncaster is the next race to run and it goes 2m110y. The going is listed as good and you’d reckon this plays into Robbie’s fortune here as the eight year old searches for his third win on the bounce. Ingleby Spirit lines up for Richard Fahey and he deserves respect as well. Meetings Man needs just a bit more luck but has been knocking on the door for a while.
The third race runs at 2:10 and look for Easter Meteor to make a breakthrough here - the son of Midnight Legend hasn’t finished off the board in quite a few starts and looks well weighted for this one. Criqtonic also looks solid and was a beaten favourite last time out during his seasonal debut.
In the 2:30 at Cheltenham, it looks to be one of the toughest races to handicap of the day - especially because there’s so much talent to compliment this big field. Look for Astracad to produce a performance to remember, while the bookmakers are all confident in the ability of Cristal Bonus to get the result here as well - he’s seen his price halved over the week and he looks the picture here. He could make a big statement about his festival plans.
The 3:05 only has 7 runners in it and it’s expected to be a tree-way battle between Grandouet, Rock On Ruby and Zarkandar. Of those three, the latter is the only one to have a run out this year - a winning effort for the Paul Nicholls-trained gelding. Look for Rock On Ruby to show that the Cheltenham score was no fluke last year.
The 3:20 at Doncaster looks a quality race and it’s probably the toughest one to handicap as well. Time For Spring and Misstree Dancer are the only ones entering this race off a victory. Door Boy lines up on a a seasonal debut and he looks a decent shout for a yard that knows how to win races like this. Ikorodu Road is an interesting option but will need to improve. Nataani took a big step up last time and acquitted himself well in a Grade 3 race at Ascot to finish fifth in a field of fourteen. He looks to be the selection here on the back of a nice run of victories prior to that.
