Saturday Scoop6 Betting Preview Part 1

There is some quality racing set to unfold over the weekend as the Scoop6 gets back to shorter fields thanks to the onset of the flat season. There is only one really gigantic difficult race - and that’s the final race of the sequence when the Bet365 Gold Cup will see 20 runners compete. That’s a tricky race to handicap thanks to the lack of outright favourites. It’s going to be interesting to see where the starting prices actually wind up because four contenders are all hovering around an 8/1 margin for the outright score in that race.

The Scoop6 kicks off at 2:05 with a handicap hurdle at Sandown. Minella Forfitness is at the high end of the weights but the Nicky Henderson charge comes into the contest looking for a fourth race on the bounce. There is not a huge amount of form in this one so look for a contender who looks to improve. Seventh Sky has been knocking on the door for quite some time having scored three-out and then following that up with two second place finishes.

Both of those place finishes were by short margins - the Ludlow contest just by a head. Charlie Mann’s contender is taking a step up in Grade here but looks to be well-handicapped for this one and looking likely to find the line or at least put in another there-or-thereabouts performance.

Mubrook enters fresh off a score in an amateur riders contest at Ayr - a 6k handicap hurdle. The jock from the day, Craig Gallagher, remains for the ride here and will be interesting with a huge weight advantage on the others.

The next contest is the 2:20 at Ripon and it’s a 1m handicap for those rated under 90. Two For Two catches the eye as he goes for his second off the lay-off after just missing by a head in his previous effort at Redcar. It was his first effort in the UK and he looks set to move forward here as the son of Danehill Dancer remains a full horse and there are still plenty of options on the table for him.
