Snow Trooper gets Kieran Fallon first-time here and looks likely to put in another quality shift. This one has raced twice so far this season and has put in good efforts both times finishing second by a head and then 1st by over two links. Fallon’s presence adds plenty of credibility here and the horse is proven at around 1m - he is a strong contender for this one and has a good end of the handicap.

The 2:40 at Sandown is the next leg of the sequence and Finian’s Rainbow headlines the top end of the handicap in this Grade 2 contest going 2m. There are plenty of recognizable names lining up in this contest - Tataniano, Toubab, Wishfull Thinking, Sanctuaire and French Opera are all here - but there is very little actual proven form coming in.
Oiseau De Nuit and Sire De Grugy are the only selections coming in off a victory while Gary Moore’s charge only won a 4K novice chase. Tanks For That may be the one who holds the real appeal here having finished second last time out after some tough performances early this year - being pulled up twice. He finished second behind Oiseau De Nuit when sent off at 20/1 and he will be a selection for some in a contest that looks a bit more open than that one did on the day.
This could be the race where Finian breaks through.
The 2:55 at Ripon is a 2m race with a few interesting contenders here - one of the key horses looks to be Moidore - a four-year-old bay gelding by Galileo who just lost by a head in a seasonal debut at Musselburgh. Michael O’Connell will get the ride again here today and that speaks volumes about the chances. A beaten favourite who should relish the distance and will get two extra panels to work with.
Having examined that last race, you would say that they moved too early with him and, though he was leading in the final furlong, he couldn’t sustain the bid.
