Court By Surprise was pulled up in this race last year but should kick on nicely after knocking on the door in his past few. There is a lot to like about his ability to get the job done and it’s worth keeping your eyes on his price - which is now 11/2 but is certain to fall quite quickly. It is worth noting that many bookmakers have recently taken Monbeg Dude in to 4/1 from 11/2.

Godsmejudge certainly has his followers but will be coping with a top weight after being pulled up last time out. Jonjo O’Neill’s Storm Survivor was recently trimmed to 8/1 from 11/1. 

The 3:50 at Newbury looks to be all about Shangani who appears to be coming into form at just the right time here. With Dashing George coming in off a victory but some pretty up and down form prior to that, and Majala being a bit of an up-in-the-air selection for most, this one could wind up being a day-maker and possible single entry on your ticket. 

The next race is the 4:00 from Lingfield on the all weather with Silken Express being preferred to the bookmakers choice Taajub. Silken Express gets Adam Curby and just missed out last time coming second in a 28k Class 2 event at Wolverhampton. He came in just a half-length behind Even Stevens who is entered here at top weight. His form has been solid recently but you just don’t reckon he’s going to be able to cope with the other contenders carrying that much weight over this type of track. 

Looking at his form line you also get the feeling that he might be ready for a rest after being all out last time. 

The 4:25 at Newbury is a small race but one that is tricky to decipher as Tresor De Bontee gets the edge after coming off a run at Wincanton as the beaten favourite. He’ll be getting things back on track here and will take advantage of a solid weight assignment in this novice handicap chase. Both options here trade at 4/1 prices. 

Smart Money is also worth keeping your eye on here with 7/1 Sergeant Dick getting AP McCoy and the third position on our ticket to close this one out.
