Sprinter Sacre into 2/5 for Champion Chase Glory

Easily one of the most exciting 2m chasers we’ve ever seen has got to be the widely-lauded Sprinter Sacre. He delivered on all expectations last time out to get the job done in front of a large crowd at Sandown when he cantered home in the Grade 1 Tingle Creek Chase. He has an awful lot of credibility with that undefeated record and his ability to put together big scores over fences has made him a nearly instant fan favourite.

Watching his comment line across the last five races where he stepped up to graded level over fences, you’ll see the last word on the line going from easily to impressive to very impressive. This tells you everything you need to know about a talented young chaser who has moved forward immensely in just over a year’s time.
By triumphing at both Cheltenham and Aintree last year, he solidified his ability to win on all sorts of ground and to take on virtually all comers. He lined up against six other quality jumpers in the Tingle Creek this year and still triumphed by a massive 15 lengths.
Both Sanctuaire and Kumbeshwar were no match for Nicky Henderson’s charge and punters had been confident about Sanctuaire’s ability to get the job done on the day in that high-priced race over 13 fences. They sent him off at 11/4 - the only other contender who sported a somewhat reasonable price. He was defeated by a nearly 20 length margin - that saw him finish a little closer to Kinkeel than he did to Sprinter Sacre. That tells you everything you need to know about that one.
Campaigned very selectively this year, it looks like connections have a massive amount of expectations for Sprinter Sacre at festival time this year.
Top jock Barry Geraghty has now gone on record as saying that Sprinter Sacre is better than the much-vaunted Moscow Flyer. With so much momentum heading into the Cheltenham Festival, you have to wonder whether he will actually go off at 1/5.
Sprinter Sacre appears to be the biggest banker at Cheltenham this year.
